My (Bon Voyage) Creative Space

I work away from home - A LOT. My beautiful family come and stay with me sometimes - which is pure joy for me whilst they are there.

With all of this trekking up and down highways going on I have seen all manner of travelling luggage.

I got to thinking about the small peoples travelling luggage. We are not 'fans' of branded stuff here at our place which, made getting some 'kids' type luggage really tricky.
So, off to the "Op-Shop' I went.

We found some suitable sized suitcases (big enough for a four day trip & easy enough to 'play with').

I then found my stash of bed spreads and got cutting...... and gluing.

I love these cases now and so do the kids.

They will often 'pack' them and go travelling around the house and garden until they arrive at their desired destination....

Whilst not resolving the 'Mummy working away from home issue', at least the kids now have some seriously funky travelling gear.
Head over to Kirsty's to see what everyone has to show and tell today.
Cheers.

You are full of all manner of bright ideas Peta - thrifty, resourceful ideas. I'm very impressed.
I still can't get my head around your working-away-from-home thing. I would find it impossible. Clearly you find it hard too sometimes. I hope you love what you do!

Good on you! They are just fabulous! I love that you are anti-brand too. I'm always telling my girls to create their own brand!! ;) I'll have to show them these when they get home from school - they will so love them! K

I need a case like that for air travel. All ours are black & it's so confusing at baggage claim.

Naaaawwww, all so cute, but OH MY! What I would have done for that vintage red case!!!

Holy toledo - you're hardly going in for little projects these days are you? They're the cats pyjamas. No doubt they can contain the cats pyjamas.

If I had cool lugguage like that I'd be taking any opportunity to travel too, including short trips around the house. I LOVE what you have done with those cases. It drives me insane that everything aimed at children is branded these days and I love your solution. Well done.

Very cool luggage!!
I noticed a button for an ornament swap in your sidebar. Is this something you organize or do you have alink? I'm looking for some fun like that.

I totally agree about the brand thing: especially with kids. The best creativity always seems to come from specific needs. You have met the need with a fabulous result. Brava!

Petal loves to take an extended trip around the house too. Last week it was a quick jaunt from London to America, but sadly, she doesn't have a funky, colourful case like these. What fun.

You're such a clever one, Peta. No wonder the kids love them so much. Hope your time away from home is not too painful and that you find some time to do "your own thing".
